Test with high turbulence and pitch angle
Projects
Small wind turbines are used throughout the developed and developing world and are primarily used in rural or remote settings in the domestic and international markets. Small wind turbines can be used to power communities, businesses, schools, clinics, single households, farms and a variety of equipment. The goal of this project is to improve the energy production of small wind turbines by increasing wind velocity at the turbine blades through the design of a shroud attachment. The design process involves the analysis of various wind lens with and without a broad-ring rim at the exit periphery. Computational fluid dynamic modeling is used to analyze the effect of shroud features on velocity and pressure fields. The next generation diffusers will be developed with improved safety and reduction of acoustic noise.
