Launch of the R&D project “VALORLEGNO”

The R&D project “VALORLEGNO – Veneto Wood Supply Chain: Advanced Systems for the Valorization of Production” of the two Regional Innovative Networks, “Foresta Oro Veneto” and “Veneto Green Cluster,” has obtained the favorable opinion of Veneto Innovazione S.p.A.

This project represents a fundamental reference framework for future research and development activities in the forest-wood supply chain, the circular bioeconomy, and green building, as well as for the entire Veneto entrepreneurial fabric of the wood sector and the regional territory.

The characteristic themes of the project focus on the valorisation of low-value wood and forestry by-products, responding to the challenges of climate change and new European regulations such as carbon farming and the EUDR regulation, as well as on innovative practices for the use of lower-value wood, with possible other applications (bioplastics, biofabrics or biochar) and on the analysis of the economic sustainability of these solutions for the Veneto wood supply chain.

The Department of Industrial Engineering participates in the project through the skills and resources of the BETALAB research group.

The project launch event will take place on Friday, 11 April 2025, at the Corte Benedettina di Legnaro, Sala Agricoltura.
