CLEAN BERTH Research Project

Innovating for Sustainable Comfort and Resource Efficiency

CLEAN BERTH Research Project

The CLEAN BERTH research project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of ports in the programme area to ensure coordinated and permanent governance in the fields of environmental sustainability and port energy efficiency at the cross-border level.

The project’s overall objective has been achieved by developing joint action plans and a long-term strategy, increasing coordination and cooperation between ports, and improving their sustainability and competitiveness.
Within this framework, the BETALAB research group has provided technical and scientific support to the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority in defining and programming the implementation phases of the planned pilot activity.

The activity aims to improve port skills in joint planning for environmental sustainability and port energy efficiency as a basis for long-term change. The action, developed by the BETALAB researchers focused on environmental acoustics and noise control, consists of implementing an acoustic monitoring campaign to verify the noise impacts in the port area and installing a permanent noise-monitoring network for this purpose.

The CLEAN-BERTH project was implemented within the framework of the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia programme 2014-2020.

The report on the activities carried out by the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority in collaboration with the  Department of Industrial Engineering and the BETALAB research group is available HERE.
