RFX-mod

RFX-mod

The RFX-mod experiment, is an operational magnetically confined plasma physics experiment, located at Consorzio RFX premises.

Thanks to a powerful MHD feedback control system, the RFX-mod experiment has been exploited for more than a decade, providing significant information for the understanding of the RFP magnetic configuration [1], the tokamak configuration (e.g. MHD control of plasmas with edge q<2) and the ultra-low q regime [2]

A substantial modification of the toroidal complex of the RFX experiment, named RFX-mod2, and representing the second major modification since its original design [3], has been proposed with the aim of improving MHD control and 3D physics studies through a more robust transition to the higher confinement regimes, namely Single Helicity in RFP and H-mode in Tokamak.
