The academic staff of the FUSION research group teaches courses in the School of Engineering of the University of Padova that focus on different disciplines in the field of nuclear fission, nuclear fusion and energy scenarios.

M.Sc. degree programme

NUCLEAR FISSION AND FUSION PLANTS

Knowledge of key aspects of physics, engineering and economics of fission nuclear power plants and future fusion power plants

THERMONUCLEAR FUSION

Basic knowledge of Plasma Physics. Engineering and Technology of Magnetic Confinement Fusion.

INDUSTRIAL PLASMA TECHNOLOGIES

Knowledge of the physics principle of the “cold” plasmas, knowledge of the diagnostics for cold “plasmas”, knowledge of the vacuum technology, knowledge of the main technologies and applications of the plasma in the industrial processes.

B.Sc. degree programme

TECHNOLOGIES AND ECONOMICS OF ENERGY

Key elements to evaluate: a) the potential and limits of various energy sources and technologies, presently in use or under development, with special reference to power generation; b) their environmental impact; c) their economics.

RADIOACTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT

Basics of nuclear physics. Origin of radioactive waste. Waste management strategies. Basic principles of storage and disposal. Safety in all life stages of waste. International and national legislation. Socio-political effects of waste management.
