Applied research on handling and processing of particulate solids

Particle storage

Our research group

  • Who we are: we are a specialized research group within the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padova.
  • Our focus: the fundamentals of Particle Technology, with emphasis on studying the relationships between microscopic properties (i.e., individual particles) and macroscopic properties (i.e., bulk), and on understanding how these properties impact on processes of industrial significance. particle processing

Our approach

  • Experimental: our laboratory works with state-of-the-art facilities for characterising particulate materials from single particle level to bulk level.  Learn more
  • Numerical: simulating what cannot be seen or measured is an option. We perform Finite Element Method, FEM, and Distinct Element Method, DEM simulations of particulate materials.  Learn more
  • Collaborative:  we share expertise and additional facilities with other academic groups members of the GrG at University of Padova in order to tackle the often complex and multifaceted problems of Particle Technology.  Learn more
