Chemical Propulsion

The Propulsion group of University of Padua have designed and developed a variety of propulsion systems in more than 20 years of activity. Oxidizer technology spans from Gaseous Oxygen (GOX), self-pressurized or pressure-fed N2O, and highly concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide (HTP). Different type of motors have been studied and developed: (I) Mono propellant, (II) Bi-propellant using hydrocarbon fuels, (III) Hybrid rockets. Thruster scale ranges from 1N up to 25 kN. Fuels used have been Nylon, HDPE, Paraffin, Kerosene, Ethanol.

Several test benches have been developed along the years, allowing test of different types and different durations. Up to 80 seconds of continuous burn have been reached.
