EIT Raw Materials (2019-2020)The objective of the project is the development of flame retardant (FR) polymers for the automotive sector using no antimony and bromine-based compounds. These materials will fulfill strict automotive fire safety regulation (e.g. UL 94-V0 standard) using limited amounts of phosphorous FRs and will contain secondary raw materials (up to 25%) coming from wastes to reduce environmental impacts and promote a “circular economy” approach to polymer formulations. The final products will cost 10-20% less than the actual commercial counterparts.

Programma Ricerca di Sistema del MISEThe project is oriented toward the development of innovative electric conductors for overhead power lines in substitution of traditional conductors. The aim is to obtain a reduction in the electric losses by Joule effect and a significant energy saving for the same transmitted current, without modification of the preexisting structures. The research activities are centered on the study of new materials for conductors and mechanical carriers and on the development of one ore more prototypes for an innovative cable for overhead lines.

In the alpine region winter sports have a fundamental role for turism and represents a significant economic factor. In this perspective there are some safety risks which can be significantly decreased by the use of specific equipments. With the aim of reducing to minimum the risk of injuries and increase the comfort of mountaineers the goal of the project is to develop innovative textile materials capable to combine sensing properties with comfort and resistance to external atmospheric agents.

It is estimated that in Veneto several tons of polyurethane industrial wastes are produced every year. This materials are mainly sent to landfill with high costs for producers and significant environmental impacts. The aim of the research project is the realization of a new a new prototype reactor for glycolisis for the recovery of polyurthane from industrial waste of different nature with the specific goal to realize . The main goal is the possibility to produce recycled polyols which can be reused in the synthesis of new polyurethane materials.

FP7 2013-2017PolyGraph will develop new production techniques to deliver industrial-scale quantities of graphene-reinforced thermosetting polymers, suitable for use in a number of key applications where improvements are needed in the strength, stiffness, toughness, electrical conductivity and thermal properties. The ultimate aim of PolyGraph is to develop a process in which graphene can be produced and dispersed “in-situ” within thermosetting polymer resins, using relatively inexpensive expanded graphite as a starting material.
