About our research
Belonging to the Department of Industrial Engineering, our research group was established thanks to the expertise cultivated since the 1970s by the Giorgio Levi Cases Centre, an interdepartmental centre of the University of Padua dedicated to research on Energy Economics and Technology.
Our research and teaching activity is highly interdisciplinary, as it covers a wide range of technical, economic and regulatory aspects of the energy sector, both at the system and company level, in the context of the energy transition.
Some of our more recent research topics
ENERGY SCENARIOS
Elaboration of future scenarios of energy system development; analysis of the potential impacts of the choices made in the energy sector on the economy and employment.
RepowerEU
Assessment of the measures needed at the national level to achieve the targets set by the RepowerEU programme. The focus is on the development of the biomethane and offshore wind sectors.
ELECTRICITY MARKET DESIGN
Assessment of the reform of the electricity market design for the strategic integration of renewables in the energy system.
HYDRO POWER PLANTS
Regulation and valorisation of hydroelectric assets: strategies for the renewal of large hydroelectric concessions.
DECARBONIZATION, ESCOs AND CECs
Policies and strategies for the decarbonisation of the energy system, through the promotion of energy efficiency and the deployment of renewable energy systems, and the role of ESCOs and Citizen Energy Communities (CECs).
