{"id":987,"date":"2025-10-10T16:59:30","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.dii.unipd.it\/flightds\/?p=987"},"modified":"2025-10-10T16:59:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:59:30","slug":"iac-2025-in-sydney-a-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.dii.unipd.it\/flightds\/iac-2025-in-sydney-a-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"IAC 2025 in Sydney: a recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>International Astronautical Congress (IAC)<\/strong> concluded last week in Sydney, and it\u2019s time to make a recap of the event.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the <strong>Space Debris Group<\/strong> participated with a delegation of four members, composed by <strong>Lorenzo Olivieri<\/strong>, <strong>Stefano Lopresti<\/strong>, <strong>Nicol\u00f2 Trabacchin<\/strong> and <strong>Alberto Abiti<\/strong>. The congress always represents a key moment to share the group&#8217;s annual research activities with the scientific community, and this year was no exception. The team contributed with a total of three oral presentations and two interactive presentations, as well as co-autorship in three additional papers.<\/p>\n<p>The presented work covered a wide range of topics related to space debris: from the development of analytical models for <strong>area-to-mass<\/strong> and <strong>velocity distributions of fragments,<\/strong> and the simulation of the <strong>Intelsat 33E<\/strong> <strong>fragmentation event<\/strong>, to the design of an innovative <strong>space debris sensor for CubeSats<\/strong> and a <strong>space-based constellation<\/strong> dedicated to the detection and tracking of both active and passive objects in <strong>lunar orbits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event represented also a great opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations and establish new connections with other research groups and industry partners, paving the way for future joint projects.<\/p>\n<p>We wrapped up this year\u2019s event in the best possible way and can\u2019t wait to meet everyone again at <strong data-start=\"346\" data-end=\"370\">IAC 2026 in Antalya!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) concluded last week in Sydney, and it\u2019s time to make a recap of the event.
