{"id":1034,"date":"2026-03-18T17:03:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.dii.unipd.it\/flightds\/?p=1034"},"modified":"2026-03-18T17:05:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:05:46","slug":"international-collaboration-in-hypervelocity-reseacrh-between-sdg-group-and-jaxa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.dii.unipd.it\/flightds\/international-collaboration-in-hypervelocity-reseacrh-between-sdg-group-and-jaxa\/","title":{"rendered":"International collaboration in Hypervelocity Reseacrh between SDG Group and JAXA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Advancing space debris research and <strong>hypervelocity<\/strong> impact studies represents a complex challenge but never as important as in the last years, due to the growing complexity of the debris environment and the rising interest in the Earth orbital space. <strong>Collaboration<\/strong> among different research institutions, along with the sharing of expertise and experimental capabilities, is therefore essential to address these challenges and ensure meaningful scientific progress.<\/p>\n<p>In this context,\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: transparent\">the Space Debris Group had the pleasure of hosting, last week, the visiting scientist <strong>Dr. Kumi Nitta<\/strong>, from <strong>JAXA, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency<\/strong>. Her visit was a part of a collaborative effort focused on experimental studies of fragmentation under hypervelocity conditions. During her stay, a series of tests were carried out at the <strong>Hypervelocity Facility of the University of Padova<\/strong>. The results contribute to a broader collaboration initiative that she proposed within the framework of the I<strong>nter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This visit highlights the importance of working together across institutions and countries, and demonstrates how much can be achieved by combining knowledge and resources toward the common goal of improving the <strong>safety<\/strong> and <strong>sustainability<\/strong> of <strong>space activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advancing space debris research and hypervelocity impact studies represents a complex challenge but never as important as in the last years, due to the growing complexity of the debris environment and the rising interest in the Earth orbital space.
