At CAPE-Lab, our research on low-carbon systems and technologies adopts a <strong>systems-oriented approach<\/strong>, with a focus on the <strong>analysis, design,<\/strong> and <strong>optimisation<\/strong> of complex energy and industrial networks.\r\n\r\nBy integrating environmental assessments\u2014such as carbon and water footprints\u2014into <strong>supply chain modelling<\/strong>, we support the development of solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally responsible. We develop advanced quantitative tools for the strategic <strong>planning<\/strong> and <strong>operation<\/strong> of large-scale infrastructures, accounting for technical and exogenous <strong>uncertainties<\/strong>. These tools are designed to support robust decision-making and are coupled with techno-economic and environmental performance assessments.\r\n\r\nOur research focuses on:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Process design and supply chain optimization of <strong>biofuel production processes<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li>Design and optimization of <strong>carbon capture, transport, storage and utilization (CCS\/CCU) <\/strong>chains<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Modelling and optimization of <strong>microalgae cultivation f<\/strong>or sustainable products<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Process design and optimization in <strong>hard-to-abate industries (e.g. cement)<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThrough these efforts, CAPE-Lab contributes to the advancement of <strong>low-carbon technologies<\/strong>, supporting the <strong>transition<\/strong> toward an environmentally and economically resilient future.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Achieving a climate-positive society requires a transformative shift in how industrial and energy systems are conceived and operated.
